Claude folds Cowork back into chat
Anthropic is folding Cowork, its separate workspace for bigger projects, back into the main Claude chat. The pitch is that you should not have to decide in advance whether a task belongs in chat or in a dedicated workspace. Claude now looks at what the task needs and pulls in the right context, skills, and connectors from any conversation.
Alongside the merge, two new outputs launch today in beta on paid plans: Claude Docs and Claude Slides, with Claude Design now working inside conversations too. The example Anthropic gives is asking for a weekly report and getting back a document plus five presentation slides from a single request, all shareable by link and editable on mobile. Existing Cowork users keep their chats, projects, artifacts, connectors, and skills in place, so nothing moves.
The rollout is staged. Pro and Max plans get it over the next few weeks, Team and Free plans later, and enterprise customers get at least 30 days notice before anything changes for them. Anthropic frames the whole thing simply: you stop choosing where work goes, and Claude does more of the routing. The announcement has the details on what ships where.
Why it matters
If you pay for Claude, the mental model changes: one surface instead of two, with document and slide generation built in instead of living in a separate product. If you built workflows around Cowork as a distinct product, check the 30-day enterprise notice window before it collapses into chat.
